Any OBer's have one? Do you like it? I have no experience with them and am not much help to him.

I have no complaints about it but make sure he knows what he is going to use it for. It is not an open water kayak and it is not fast. It was built for fishing the marshes and in the shallows. The seat is extremely comfortable and convenient and it is relatively to easy to stand up and cast. Good amount of storage and pretty easy to maneuver. I paid $550 for mine used on Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing Club

He is from the Texas hill country and wants to use it to paddle rivers located in central Texas where he's from. From what I am reading it sounds like a perfect fit for him.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like an ideal situation for him then! I would tell him to go for it

Great boat for rivers and streams. Unfortunately I don't get out on it too much :-( Added an anchor trolley system. Stable. Go for it.

Well if queen Hammertime and JAB528 allow, I can give alittle insight.
My buddy has one and I've fished in it, they are really really steady for their size and you can stand and fish pretty easily. Jackson seats are some of the most comfortable out there and the ability to change from high to low is great. A turn off for people is the length because it is a shorter boat so it doesn't track well when going longer distances but the biggest issue I had with it is its sits out of the water a little high. I took it out in a heavy winded day and it was rough to get around and I was battling the wind all day. But a great little starter kayak for small bodies of water

I'm going with him after work to look at it. Hopefully get him on the water soon!

It is the best boat for moving water. It is my only boat and I have paddled 10 miles in it in one day. It is not the best for flat water, long paddles but still gets the job done.
For creeks and rivers, it can't be beat.
