Man, I'm glad I didn't watch that. Game ended at 3 AM, and the Angels blew a five run lead in the 8th inning, which is hard to do.

Josh Hamilton is hitting .202/.246/.298 after going 0 for 8 last night. That's unfathomably bad.

I am sure there were dozens of fans remaining at the Coliseum by the time it was over.

Angels don't have a lot of depth. Sad Yankees have more depth/better team

Ugggghhhhhhh.

I listened/watched until the 17th inning I think and then I couldn't stay up any longer. Why MS14 decided to pitch to Cespedes in the 9th with the bases loaded is beyond me. Positives were that Hanson looked good and Jerome Williams pitched well for 6 innings in relief. Difference in the game was a ground ball to Kendrick where he bobbled it and then threw low to AP and it popped out of his glove.

Attendance last night was like 11K and change. Decent number of fans still there pretty late.

Hamilton hasn't been hitting at all but at least his defense hasn't suffered. There is a good ESPN insider article on Hamilton today. I couldn't stomach to read the whole thing.

Saw a stat that every single regular Angels hitter is above average thus far this season... except Hamilton.

Hard to feel sorry for him. I think those Head and Shoulders commercials and his bio pic are far more important to him.

I actually feel bad for MS14. He is going to get fired because he didn't even help put this roster together. His successful teams combined a great pitching staff with a lights out bullpen. They have and will not have either of those this season.

Is above avg of what?
Of Hamilton?
Of career avg?
Or just above MLB avg at their respective position?

I may disagree with MS14 sometimes, but this season is not on him.

Regarding the other players, Bourjos, before being injured last night, was well above his previous averages. Kendrick is near his career averages, Trumbo is mashing, but not everyone is performing. AP is starting to come around and Trout is still struggling.

Aybar and Callaspo should return soon as will Weaver so that should help. I think that the rotation will have some changes soon. Jerome Williams has a 1.69 ERA and I think its time to put him in the rotation.

Overall the bullpen has been struggling but the fact that the starters aren't going deep into games has really put stress on the BP.

Cespedes only had Crisp on third in the 9th. Still had a bad open so I agree with not pitching to him. It was great base work by Crisp. Tagged up to get to 2nd and stole 3rd.

Don't walk the leadoff guy and this would have been over at a decent time and Bourjos would still be healthy.

Exactly. That's my point.

I fear Bourjos and Trout more than anyone on that team. They are consistent terrors on the basepaths. Pujols can barely move right now and Hamilton scares no one. Trumbo started out well last year, but regressed.

Agreed. This should help. Williams was decent last year at times. Blanton and Vargas are terrible and won't get any better. You need your offense to be awesome the entire year.

There's no doubt about this.

Most of your analysis is like pinning the tail on the donkey. Spot on.

indifference, but I agree walking the leadoff hitter was the problem.

Bourjos, who missed 11 games because of tightness in his right hamstring in July of 2011, was batting .405 in his past 11 games -- all of which came from the leadoff spot.
