The Men's basketball team, including coach Jones, Coach Leonard, and Tom Kelsey (Dir. of Basketball Operations) plus student managers, participated in the Ascension Parish Inclusion League's (A.P.I.L.) final TBall game of the season, yesterday.
APIL is an organization, run by parents and volunteers, to allow special needs kids to participate in sports. The guys made a whole bunch of disadvantaged kids and their hardworking parents very happy.
Here's a few parent quotes, taken from their Facebook pages:

"Anthony gave xxxx his Geaux Givers shirt. This momma almost cried when I realized that the sweet guy who held my boys hand at 3rd base had literally given him the shirt off his back!"

"Such a sweet thing to do"

"they were great with the kids Loved todays game"

"Thanks To xxxxxx And LSU Team. For Taking time , to spend time with the kids"

" Helps you keep faith in people they're still a lot of good ones out there"

"Thanks to the LSU basketball team and Coaches Johnny Jones, Charlie Leonard and Tom Kelsey for helping all of our special kids have such a special day."

"Anthony Hickey stole my heart! Thank you to the LSU men's basketball team for supporting the APIL program!"

"They were great with the kids, too! Totally at ease!"

"Today exceeded my expectations!"

Men's basketball also gave each child a Mike bobble head, an LSU hat & shirt.

Very classy, Bball Tigers!

And before anyone get's the chance to go negative on this - YES, this was a purely voluntary event, team members were not "required" to participate.

No room for this kind of stuff around here.

Meanwhile, LSU will graduate more football players in the SEC other than Vandy for the second year in a row

but hey, :thugu: right?

I RA'd
Only doom and gloom is permitted on the rant.
The vast majority of out Tiger athletes and students are great kids. We don't hear about the good deeds much just the occasional bad one that gets all the headlines.

That's right.
Football is under great pressure to recruit based upon skill alone, and being a decent person doesn't seem to be part of the criteria.

This is in contrast to Johnny Jones, who won't recruit players with questionable moral character - kids that bring negative media attention to LSU won't find a way onto his teams. He's too proud of LSU for that.

That being said, lots of LSU football players are great kids. Too many bad apples taint the rest.

I thought so.
Interesting how the thread on Jeremy Hill is really long, and this one is so short

Er, it's doing good, as in "doing good deeds" or "doing good things".

And they're doing well at doing good.

Johnny Jones got it going on right now. Played over their limitations this season, had a fantastic recruiting class, JOBIII is coming back, and it seems like he sets a high bar off the court (Hickey and Hammink suspensions for slacking on attendance, hospital visits, this t-ball tourney, etc).

I was sort of on the fence when they hired him, but so far he's gone above and beyond.

.

Your subject line reads as a state of being, not action.

So yeah, it's doing well.

Your lack of grammar is laughable.

Using 'douche' as a term of disrespect lacks creativity.

You must be a blast to hang out with.

Just for your ignorance:

quote:

Finally, it's very important to remember that it's wrong to use "good" as an adverb after an action verb. For example, it's wrong to say, “He swam good.” Cringe! The proper sentence is "He swam well," because "swam" is an action verb and it needs an adverb to describe it. Remember, you can only use adjectives such as "good" and "bad" after linking verbs, you can't use them after action verbs.

Best post I've read in a while. To follow up on some of the other posts, I really don't think Hill is a bad guy. I've got mixed reports of the situation in high school, and so that's obviously a concern. A bar fight doesn't have any implication on the guys character IMHO
