spectacular cinematography. It's a cliche, but they don't make movies like that any more.

Great movie...wish James Dean had lived longer. Bet he would have had a great career.

One of my top 5 of all time. I've seen it double digits.

It's not really that great aside from a few of Dean's early scenes

LINK -- Apparently Dean was only supposed to walk behind the fence. Marching stiffly to measure it out and climbing the windmilll were both improvised by him on the set.

Great scenery. Great ensemble acting; Hudson/Taylor were no slouches, either. One of the most realistic fight scenes, toward the end, with "Sarge".

When the drum cadence for "The Eyes of Texas" started... it was a surreal, beautiful, and uniquely American cinematic moment.

In the postscript, Robert Osborne and Drew Barrymore were talking, and he said Grace Kelly was originally supposed to play the Elizabeth Taylor part.

Tangent: Drew Barrymore has come a long way. It was about 50-50 that she would survive her teen years.

That's the reason the kids have blonde hair. The parts were never recast after Taylor replaced Kelly.
