I was driving home last night listening to the Cleveland ESPN station. The commentators and the fans who called in were pretty psyched about the Browns getting Mingo. Some would have preferred Dee Milner (wanted to pair him with Joe Hayden in the backfield), but the prevailing opinion was that Mingo perfectly fits the 3-4 scheme of the new DC, Ray Horton, who wants waves of pass rushers attacking the QB.

Lots of nice comments about the LSU program, Les Miles, and excitement that the Browns were getting a star player from one of the best defenses in the college game.

Pretty cool to have a Tiger on the Brownies. They train about a half mile from the school where I teach, so I plan to visit a few pre-season practices wearing an LSU shirt and cheering for Keke!

Some seem happy, others not impressed in my area.

Cleveland front office is dealing. Brownies should be pretty solid this year.

Hope he represents LSU well. Hes very well spoken, and seems very humble. Browns made a good pick here

you can't teach/replace speed at that position and trying to get to the QB. Good pick. Browns should be satisfied.

After he was announced, they showed two browns fans in the audience and both were shaking their head in disgust with the pick.

I wanted to punch my tv. I was hoping that the saints would have a chance at him.

The fans at the draft did not look happy to get him after it was announced

Not to mention the most important thing - his left arm is 1.5" longer than his right

They're Browns' fans. The only reaction they know is shaking their heads in disgust. Those poor guys didn't know what else to do.

Who gives a frick what draftards think.

Most have no realistic idea of what their team needs, gaining all of their expert knowledge from some talk radio fricktard who has no realistic idea of what their team needs. The Dallas Cowboys needed a center and they drafted a good one, last night. What did the super fans that travel to New York to watch 20 year olds walk on stage and hug another man think? They thought it was stupid to draft someone they had never heard of. They wanted the Cowboys to draft Roger Staubach again.

Having lived up here for 13 years, I can vouch for the fact that Browns fans can be pretty cynical, and they have a lot to be cynical about. (Think Saints fans back in the bad ol' days.) But they also live and breath their team, and the dawg pound still rocks on Sunday afternoons. They WANT to believe, and if they ever get just a glimmer of hope, they'll buy in big time.

But, as I reported initially, the reaction I was hearing last night was overwhelmingly positive.

I think we have pretty good idea of what our team needs. Drafting Mingo means Trevin Wade is now a starting corner in the NFL.

They're Browns fans. Who are they to question anyone else's decision making?
