I am planning on converting to the master race after I graduate but I want to play a few good games now. I used bootcamp to put windows on my mac but I am afraid that playing to many games will either ruin my mac or it will just look terrible because of the limited power.

What I want to know is if it is possible to spend a few bucks to upgrade my mac a little bit to play games better or should I just wait to graduate and drop $1000+ on a good PC?

What I meant was that I am giving up my mac and getting a PC after graduation.

I use my mac for school. I know, I know, give me a break im trying to get better.

ok i figured it wa a stretch. What should I expect to drop on a decent gaming pc? Also, I have a 1080p, 120hz,100,000:1 CR, vizio smart tv, could I use that as a monitor?

Don't use a tv for gaming, long story short its bot the same. What are the specs for your Mac? I think it's willymeaux that games on a Mac.

I once played Diablo 3 on a macbook running a windows vm.

It was barely playable at low gfx settings. Booting straight into windows would obviously be a lot better than the vm.

This is what I have. Its basically the stock 13 inch macbook pro.

Processor: 2.3 Ghz Intel core i5

Memory: 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3

Of course im not looking to run BF3 at full specs right now, just something more like a strategy, AOE3/starcraft2-ish, style game.

Another bad thing is hardly any good games are made for mac and the ones that were are fricking expensive as hell.

My 51" plasma monitor disagrees.

You won't be able to play anything current with that even on low settings.

I did downloard AOE3 from pirate bay one time and it worked well but removed it a while back. But yeah, i figured as much.

I think AOE3 released in 2007 so that doesn't fit "anything current"

I got out for <$1000 w/a purchased copy of Windows and a nice monitor.

I just chose a build from logical increments:

One last thing, does the case affect anything other than appearance? I ask because If it comes down to saving a couple hundred bucks, I really dont care what it looks like.

I use my MacBook to play dayz and I haven't come across any problems so far. Make sure you get the right drivers for your video card and whatnot.

ETA: I haven't tried this but if you really want to upgrade your video card you could get an external video card.

What games are you looking to play?

Yeah, it's called buying another computer. A real one this time, unless you're a hipster, wannabe graphic designer who plans on "gaming" at Starbucks.
