Beretta warned that stricter gun control laws would push the company outside of state lines, but that didn’t stop Maryland legislators. Jeffrey Reh, a spokesman for Beretta who also serves as the President of Stoeger Industries under Beretta, announced that the company would begrudgingly uproot and take its business elsewhere. He said, “We don’t want to do this, we’re not willing to do this, but obviously this legislation has caused us a serious level of concern within our company.” He added that Beretta paid approximately $31 million in taxes, employs 400 people, and had invested $73 million in the business over the past several decades. Despite being such a prominent player in the local economy, Beretta was unable to prevent legislators from passing tighter gun control laws. Ironically, Beretta manufactures some firearms that are now banned in Maryland.

I really do hate it for the Beretta workers, many of whom prolly have had nothing to do w/ the political response to the recent shooting. OTOH, it's just like Obama has said many times, "Elections have consequences." Guess what.......passing stupid new laws, due to a reactionary and emotion charged response to a horrible incident, have consequences also....

This doesn't sound like they're leaving.

These folks need to come south. Lower taxes, lower cost of living, plenty of ports to ship from and eager clients and gun rights friendly. Bama's economic team better be offering packages for these companies.

Better get rid of the State income tax soon. Why would any company moving pick Louisiana over Florida and Texas right now.

That's what I'm saying. I'd love for one to come here but better options exist. I'd still rather have them down here in the south than in the communist north though.
