Friend shoots home intruder

I wanted to wait a little bit before I posted this
LINK here is the news story
The skinny
11:30 a.m.- my friend is woken up by loud screams from his roommate calling his name (both roommates are girls). He gets out of bed and opens his door to be looking down the barrel of a loaded handgun. Without thinking my buddy jumps out of the door way into his room and grabbed his .40 cal handgun. Shoots all 15 rounds at the guy and hit him 7 times. 6 dead center of the chest and once in the shoulder, he was using hollow points. The guy falls and proceeds to talk shite and crawl towards the front door (which he kicked in) and passed out in the driveway. He is currently on life support here in Memphis. My buddy was justified by the polices for using his weapon in self defense.
It pisses me off that only 2 of the 4 news stations here in Memphis even reported it let alone anyone around the country ever hearing about a weapon being used for its intended purpose.
Just figure I would share here knowing most of y'all will appreciate a story like this

Just like the story of the female cop in San Antonio at the show. Popped the guy and you don't hear jack about it on any major news stations, at least I didn't.

And don't be shocked the news isn't reporting it. Guns being used in self defense (which happens much more often then being used in crime) doesn't fit their agenda.

Why was guy in the house?
what brand ammo did he use to shoot a guy point blank with 6 rounds of .40 in the chest and is not dead.
Where did the other 8 shots end up?
and finally an ethical question why do we as tax payers spend money keeping these guys alive?
