i'm looking at buying a PF9, do any of y'all have any experience with the Kel Tec PF9?

i have several other handguns that i carry when i wear loose clothing and can conceal it. I'm looking for something small enough to carry in an ankle holster at the office.

To be honest i bought a beretta bobcat .22LR to carry in my pocket but when carrying it i question is it enough if i really need it.

Kel Tec's seem kinda hit and miss. If you get a good one they run well, if you get a bad one they tend to have problems. I think Kel Tec's customer service is well regarded though.

This.

I've had a Kel-Tec PF9 for nearly 3 years. It was the first gun that used for cc. It still has a role in my cc, although a "situational" role. My experience w/ Kel-Tec has been fine. The only time I had a problem (failure to extract) was when I had let it get dirty. I knew it needed to be cleaned so I'm going to take the blame for that instead of the gun. Before I ever shot my Kel-Tec, I did the "fluff and buff" treament from this site: LINK /. The very small 9mm's like the PF9 are generally finicky guns. Mechanically speaking, everytime you pull the trigger, there are a LOT of things are going on in a VERY small package shooting a VERY powerful round. The owner of a small 9mm such as this MUST take the time to learn the platform, practice w/ good technique, find what ammo the gun likes and keep the gun CLEAN.

Personally, I don't like ankle carry and know of very few who've used ankle carry long term, especially for their primary gun. The PF9 absolutely disappears w/ inside the waist band carry. Nowdays, I mainly carry my PF9 during spring/summer, mostly using pocket carry. The PF9 easily fits in the pockets of cargo shorts and in the right front pocket of most of my dress pants. For pocket carry, I use a REAR pocket holster from Bear Creek Holsters.LINK For IWB carry, I use a "Southern Sidekick" from R. Grizzle Leather. LINK

I higly recommend the extended magazine. The extended mag has an 8 round capacity instead of the usual 7. You can also get an extension that attaches to the bottom of a 7 round mag, increasing the capacity by one round. Don't confuse these w/ the "pinky extension" that's sometimes called a mag extension. This might clarify it for you. LINK /

The PF9 can be a handful to shoot. Since it's so light, it's pretty snappy. The DAO trigger is LLLOOOONG, but it serves as a safety since there's no external safety lever. I recommend using some fine sandpaper to remove any sharp edges or seams on the plastic frame. The PF9 ain't pretty and looks kinda cheap, but mine's been very durable and functional. Couldn't ask much more for a gun in that price range.
