Has anyone on the board been to Azteca for a USMNT El Tri match?

If so, any stories to share?

While I appreciate the passion and nerve, I believe the wiser course of action by the USA fans would have been to quietly leave that shithole.

I was there last night. I went with my Mexican girlfriend and her family and friends. So I didn't sit with Sam's Army, although I was not far at all from them. Sam's Army was rocking it last night. The Mexican fans that I met last night were really awesome. Very friendly. We talked crap, but it was a lot of fun. But at the end of the game got ridiculous. My friends covered me when I needed to go to the bathroom or what not, so I didn't get anything thrown at me. They even apologized for the bad fans. The only thing that upset me was when they started whistling during the national anthem...

Agreed. But I can't imagine that it's that easy to keep your cool when piss bombs are being flung at you from all directions.

Do you have pics?

I went to the Gold Cup in 2011 in LA and it was basically Azteca 2.0. The Mexican fans were nice before the game. Once it started though they were complete assholes. All of them.

I don't understand, if you tried this shite in Europe you'd be playing games without fans or losing matches 3-0.

Why does the us soccer federation allow this. I know Mexico is a shithole war zone but that is inexcusable.

I definitely was wearing the red, white, and blue and waving my American flag. Although they kept on trying to drape a Mexican flag around me...
