What about Dominic Magee

As I predicted, once Magee got onto the national circuit and got recognized his stock jumped quick. But I just dont know the fit and what LSU is looking to do. I know it says he is a PG but his best position in college is an off-guard. That having been said LSU has two really solid players in Morgan and Hornsby, just dont see it, I think Newberry is a better fit and a better player right now that could help the Tigers win sooner. Would I still love an all LA class of say Thompson, Victor, and Magee, hell yes, but unlike football there are no fences in college basketball recruiting, if a team thinks like that, thats how coaches get fired, and the team s suffer.

I see. I know basketball is a game based much more on scheme than other sports unless your' Kentucky and you can plug in 5 freaks every year and allow them to do whatever they want, so if Newberry fits what CJJ wants than I'm all for it.

And I really hope we land Bolden. Even more than Victor. A class of Newberry, Kasongo and Bolden would be an incredible follow up to last year and address needs.

I would be pumped with that class Bolden is very skilled Newberry brings experience and could help out right away, and I think the sky is the limit for Kasongo physically he is ready right. now

My two cents are that we're going to focus on guards. Maybe one JuCo and one college (Newberry and Reynolds/Magee maybe?), and one big man. Because I expect Martin or O'Byrant to declare, we take one more big.

Expecting a class of 3-4 for 2014.

I think, barring injury, JOBIII is going regardless. However with the way next year's draft class is being touted, I think Martin won't be a lottery projection (hell, probably not even a first round projection) He'll be here at least 2 years, maybe 3

with the transfers we have coming in for 2014, is that why this class will be small?

Hornsby is already on the team and is using a scholarship.

Stringer and Coleman will be graduating. Losing JOB is expected, and there's usually some type of attrition going forward.

At least 3 guys, maybe more.

There is an obvious need for a combo guard regardless of who stays or goes. Renyolds or Newberry fit the bill and are probably the two best bet right now, but it could change if we could start to see mutual interest from some guys we just offered.

I honestly do not think there are any transfer/ask to leave candidates on this year's team. Now there maybe things come up that we do not know. But I cant see CJJ asking Bridge or Hammink to transfer.

Newberry
Bolden
Thompson

Also you have to more add Hornsby as a 2014 recruit because that is when he is eligible.

Backcourt of

Hickey Newberry
Hornsby Morgan

Quarterman as the main combo guard

Yea I think its a pretty good chance one of the players leaves early, but you never know, I mean the troll job JOB3 did this year, he could try and top it again

And yes Hornsby will not dress but will be on the sidelines and get to practice.

The team will also have two pretty good walk-ons so they will have a full 15 practicing barring injuries.

He's being redshirted so he doesn't lose any eligibility. He'll be a RS Jr next season.

I would hope to agree, but the staff seems to be acting as if they're going to lose a few guys. We have a ton of offers out to guys.

Does anyone know what Reed thinks of LSU? Also, at one time, I entertained hopes of landing Victor, Exum and Oubre, among others. I know we're out of it for Oubre, and I'm thinking the same for the other two.

Even so, I'd be pretty happy with a class of Newberry at the point, Magee as a combo guard, Bolden and either Kasongo or Thompson, if we can sign four. Keys sounds tremendous, but I understand his academics may hold him back.

Oubre

Surprised me we were ruled out this early, thought with the connection we could have potentially snagged him, but oh well.

Reed

Recently offered by LSU, I do not know if it was merely an AAU scout offer or a real we have been looking at this guy for a while offer. But Coach McCray with his GA connections could make it interesting. Would love to have him, and he fits in well with the CJJ system for a center.

Victor

It is seemingly be between LSU and Arizona for his commitment, with Zona in the lead, with him at Findlay I see him going to Zona but still hold out hope! Will not see any resolution with Kasongo, Keys, Thompson, any other PF's till Victor decides either way.

I personally do not see Magee in this system and would rather Newberry, Bolden is very interesting, I hope we can lock him up before he explodes (which he will, Top-10 IMO), and Kasongo seems really high on LSU and Thompson I think would commit in a heartbeat.

My precited class is still
Kasongo
Newberry
Thompson

Hey rzd30, thanks for the feedback. I'd be alright with the class you mention.

Interesting that you think Thompson would commit in a heartbeat. I thought he had an offer? Maybe not commitable. Also, I thought he said he liked LSU but doesn't think he wants to go to schol there? Maybe he was just talking.

He does have an offer. LSU wants him to bulk up so that he can also play Center as well. If that weren't the case, I think he'd be committed by now.

Hey oauron, wanted to know if you heard anything recently on Newberry, I know Bubba talked about him a while back, but wanted to see if you knew anything else on that front?

Nothing new. There is another Junior College guard named Gerry Blakes that LSU is also going after (already has a visit scheduled). He originally committed to Hawaii, but didn't make the grades. Wouldn't be surprised if he lands at LSU.
