Looking at a 2008 17' Stratos bass boat with a 60 4-stroke Yamaha. The motor has less than 10 hours on it. It was owned by an elderly gentleman and has been garage kept. It has to depth finders and trolling motor.

He wants $12,500 but I think I can get it for $11,500. Deal or no deal? Thoughts?

Stratos 176xt

Is it this boat? If so the going rate for an 2008 model is around 9k

I have the 176xt. Its a good boat for a leisurely weekend angler. I have the 75 and it runs about 42 with two people, gear, and livewells full. If you are a speed demon this aint the boat for you

That motor seems a little small. I have a 17' procraft with a 90 horse and only runs 45 or so with two people and gear.

No deal. Boat is too small & motor is WAY too small to pay that for it.

Way under powered. My javelin I just sold was 17'8" and was rated for a 150 and that was a nice set up.

just to clarify on the motor size. These boats have a different hull design to run these smaller motors. If you look under the boat you will see that the actual pad is smaller than the rest of the hull. The max HP for this boat is a 75

THIS. These boats are made like an aluminum boat, just fiberglass. I agree with the above comments, seems a bit high. I think you can buy a brand new one for 14k.

ETA - I found some on Boattrader for 8500-9500. I think thats more reasonable.

I think they are more like 18K new. Bone, do you think a 60 is enough motor on this boat if I can get it for the right deal?

This boat looks like it has never been taken off the trailer.

What they sell for now and what they sold for then are two different things.

I know for a fact they were selling for under 13k in 2007 so old dude wants what he paid for it. I dont care how many hrs the motor has on it, its not worth the new selling price.

I bought mine with a 60, took it out once and brought it back. Paid cash to upgrade to a 75. Once it planed off it did well with the 60, just slow slow hole shot. The 75 was a world of differenc. I was scared I made a bad purchase when I ran the 60. I'm satisfied now. I think you could get him down to 10 I would buy if it's in that good of shape. The ones I've seen around 8500 have been pretty ragged out.

I thought I remember seeing them for that price. I think it depends on what kind of lakes your fishing. I wouldn't want it to run rivers and big open lakes. But cypress lakes and swamps would be fine.
