My grandfather gave me his old Big Red. It was left to him by his father when he died. I grew up riding it in the back of Ole Miss Hinting club on Old River.

I've run it some, but for the past 10-12 years it's been sitting in the yard. I'm going to let somebody go through the motor and check it all out, but it has run within the last few years, so hopefully there are no big issues there.

The bike has a lot of sentimental value to both me and my paw paw. I would like to get back to at least 90%. I know it's going to cost, but I don't want to go crazy with it. Just to a point where it runs great and looks good.

I'm thinking new plastics all the way around. Hopefully I can find a new or like new oem gas tank. The one it has now is one of the plastic replacements and I hate it. Totally changes the look of the bike. The seat needs upholstering, it's dry rotted, as are the tires.

I've never tried to find old parts for something like this before. Other than eBay, what are some good sources for oem or replacement parts for these old bikes? Would anybody local have some of this stuff?

I'm thinking ebay may be your best if not only option.

Hell yeah. Glad to hear you are doing this. In the 80's the Big Red was a premier 3-wheeler.

To this day I still think the Big Red is the best deep woods ATV that a person can own. I almost bought one myself a few years ago.

I just finished a 1983 200 that I got off an old guy for 100. The only thing left I want to do is find an original gas tank. That sucker fires off first pull every time. Talk about get some looks when you drive around with an old 3 wheeler in your truck

That's awesome. I witnessed a fella and his skank both wearing shrimp boots ride a Big Red to the local Dollar General last weekend. The gentleman placed his single bag in the front rack, threw his skank on the back, and drove off like a fricking Boss.

It looks like the gas tank could be pretty difficult to find. And pricey if I find one. What websites did you use? It doesn't seem like there is a good one stop shop with this type of thing.

Gotta have a skank on the back. If that's not your goal... Then what's the point?

Any advice on where to get the seat re-covered? I'm not sure if the foam is still good. I would imagine not. What places do this type of work.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I have a ton of great memories on this thing and can't wait to get this started.
