Makes me lose faith in humanity. I'm proud to say I've never seen either one of those shows. If you posted a picture of HoneyBooBoo right now I wouldn't recognize her.

Honestly, I think the 2000's have been a horrible decade for TV. The networks sold out to the cheap and un-creative reality crap. Really, anything that pushed the envelope a little and did something different wasn't even given a chance if it wasnt an instant ratings success. (Firefly, Chuck, Family Guy the first time, etc)

I know debates like this always fall on generational lines and clearly you do, since you mention networks as if the old, 3 channels model has never changed. You are right about the networks of course, what's been the best show on the Big 3 recently? Even many cable outlets have fallen down the "reality" (voyeur) program rabbit hole.

That said, some of the best drama in the history of the medium have come out in the last 10-15 years. All (or at least the vast majority) from cable. Shows like The Sopranons, the Wire, BSG, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, GOT and I'm sure some others. There's been some other really good stuff as well (Buffy, Smallville, Supernatural) to name a few.

Comedy I think has been better, but I'd be hard pressed to find a better era for drame than the past 10-15 years.

Friends was bad. HIMYM might be the least funny "comedy" in the last 20 years, other than That 70's Show.

I'm sitting here answering like it was a new thread. Of course if I had read all the way thru, I'd have realized Baloo covered it much better already anyway

Um, okay?

I wouldn't quite go that gay (NTTAWWT), but I did want to be a fireman - no $hit.

Well, Pretty Boy is half injun (Seminole) - he was my favorite (no homo - NTTAWWT) when I was a kid watching the series.
