Has he ever stated why he makes comedies so long? No comedy should be over 2 hours and a lot of his push past the 2 hour 30 minute mark. It's like the first half of the movie is one film and than it goes down a completely different path. He really needs a good editor. I always see people start off enjoying his films but become restless towards the end.

I don't know. I started out enjoying This is 40 and the Sandler flick but at the 1hr 45min mark I found myself constantly checking my watch. He has great ideas but he needs to learn when to say no.

There's no smooth and quick way to transition from comedy to chick flick or depressing drama.

His movies have more layers to them than, say, a Brat Pack comedy. Thus, they need more time to be fully fleshed out.

So Apatow movies have as much layer as Bond movies then? They both have similar run times.
