This hardly means that the film or franchise is bad, but I find there are some great films that carry a very annoying fan base.
I will start, the Boondock Saints fans were (not so much now) a very annoying fan base. I found every fan of this film thought they were always the first person in their social circle to see it and thought they were showing it to the world.
I don't care if I get eaten alive or not, the Tarantino fan base is also an extremely annoying group as well. People that still quote Pulp Fiction and still have to remind you what a Royale with cheese is makes me cringe.

Star Wars fans, because they expect everyone to know the same minutiae they do. We don't care. It was a nice movie, but geez, let it go.

And I'll add, they aren't annoying, but Malick groupies are funny...

there are many things i am a fan of like arrested development, LOST, Firefly, etc and can see how the fans in general could be seen as annoying.
but basically isn't any fan base that you're not apart of automatically annoying?

I would agree with this, but there are some fan bases (in my experience) that aren't all in your face about it. The Lord of the Rings fans tend to keep the fan hood in check.
I remember when Matrix fans were would tout that franchise around like it was the second coming of Star Wars. Then them sequels dropped. Them goobers shut the frick up pretty fast.
