Looks like Jets want similar package to Harvin, first, third and seventh. Bucs want to ship a 2014 first rounder. Something has to give

You honestly think Chip is giving up No. 4 overall for Revis' rapey knee cap?

Why wouldn't San Fran jump at that?

San Fran doesn't need him, IMO. He would be icing on the cake.

I guess they don't think he's worth that much. Much like the Pats, who would never give that much up for one player

Right, but when they have 16 or so picks in this draft, might as well get rid of some of them. They really aren't going to bring 16 rookies onto their roster

No, but that's when you stock pile for 2014 draft or put together a few second or third round picks and move back into the first round or something

Not to mention the money they would have to pay Revis, unless they just rent him for this season.

SF already have one of the best defenses in the league. No need to spend 15 mil a year on one player.

The jets should shut the frick up and trade him. Revis' contract demands make this a buyers market. Hardly anyone can afford him.

Smarter move would be to trade current picks for future picks and cash in whenever you need too

give up two good picks for a player coming off a major injury and only 1 year left on his deal who will demand a new one that will eat up a massive chunk in our salary cap? No thanks.

exactly, plus players on their rookie deals are cheap labor in the NFL. We're going to have to pay Kaep after next season so a few current starters will have to go. Turn this quantity of picks into a smaller number of higher quality picks and you can fill those holes and not miss a beat.

1. Find a team who wants to move up a few spots, trade.
2. Trade first round pick with Jets for Revis
3. ???
4. Profit

it's not that we don't want Revis, we don;t want the cap number he represents at that position. Managing resources.

To answer that question, no.

But I don't see why not. Sure, a good player can be gotten at #4 overall. But the league's best CB is only drafted once every six years or so. [Assuming that Revis will return to pre-injury form]

You also have to add in the huge chunk of salary cap he would occupy. If your rebuilding like the Eagles, youll probably be better long term getting that player in the draft on a dirt cheap contract and being able to sign other good players than you would having Revis on your team but not really winning anything because the res of the team is not up to par
