The LSU seniors fell (literally) short of victory in their last regular season home game, 67-81 versus Ole Miss. Just 1:11 into the game, a hard but fair foul by Murphy Holloway on LSU senior and leader Charles Carmouche (above) took him out of action for the majority of the first half. LSU made several attempted comebacks in the second half, but could never get enough stops of the potent Ole Miss offense to make the full comeback.

Johnny O'Bryant finished the regular season with his SEC leading 14th double double, after scoring 17 and pulling down 12 boards. Johnny O'Bryant was 7 of 7 from the free throw line. Andre Stringer also played well for LSU scoring a team leading 18 points on 4 of 8 shooting from deep. Hickey scored 10, Carmouche scored 8, and Andrew Del Piero had 7 for the Tigers. They weren't able to contain the SEC's leading scorer Marshall Henderson. He scored 22 points and had 5 assists and 5 steals.

With a win, LSU would have held the 7 seed in the SEC Tournament, but now sit in the dreaded 8 vs 9 game at noon Thursday against Georgia. The winner of that one will have the first crack at knocking off #1 seed Florida in the quarterfinals of the Tournament.

LSU ends their regular season with 18 wins and 11 losses. Their 9-9 SEC record was also very respectable. I'd say about 95% of LSU fans had projected less than 9 SEC wins, so Coach Jones and the 12-13 Tigers have done an exemplary job of competing with the assets they held. LSU has a top 10 recruiting class coming in next season who come in with a winning pedigree. Both Tim Quarterman (Georgia) and Jarell Martin (Louisiana) won their state titles in the past two weeks, while Jordan Mickey won the NACA National Title with Prime Prep of Dallas.

The SEC Tournament starts for LSU at noon on Thursday against Georgia. While the path won't be easy, LSU Still has as much of a chance as any in a very wide open SEC tournament.

ATM a 4 seed? No ole miss or Bama? Those teams aren't making the dance. I'm skeptical of this projection to say the least. I hope its right though

While I think it's too high, they still have a double digit RPI.

Ole Miss and Bama were first four out according to lunardi before the weekend. Both won so its possible that one or both make the big dance

First off, while I'd be happy for the players, as a fan I really don't care one way or the other if LSU makes the NIT. Just don't care about the NIT in general.

As far as LSU being a "lock", I just don't see it at this point. If the SEC gets 3 teams in the NCAAT, then you're looking a 4 SEC teams who should/are going to get into the NIT ahead of LSU (UGA not being one of them). Couple that with the mid-major reg season champs who didn't win thier conf. tourney (i.e. Mid Tenn St. and others) and the "at large" field sort of shrinks.

LSUTix.com if you are a season ticket holder. Otherwise, you can apply for tickets after a home game is announced.

I really hope LSU still is able to make the NIT. With their RPI at 90 right now I think LSU has a good shot. They have been playing good ball (besides Ole Miss game) and I think having put in a bid to host games shouldn't hurt LSU's chances at all. Really would be surprised at this point to see the Tigers not in the NIT tournament.

South would you agree that even with a SEC tourney Champ run that UF still wouldn't get a 1 seed.

I don't think UF has a shot at a 1 seed. Too many losses in SEC now.

I place the loss squarely on my shoulders.

I showed up at the PMAC with LSU leading 21-13 with 13 or so minutes remaining in the half.

..a 30-9 run later, it was 43-30 OM at halftime.

Nice dunk by the skinny white dude at halftime, but he followed it up with a few airballs.

I don't think Florida is playing for much in this one. If LSU can get past UGA, they need to bring the heat against Florida. Would be a huge win for LSU.
