Word around Denver is that, if he doesn't agree to restructure his contract to lessen the amount of money he makes, he will be released. The Broncos would then target Dwight Freeney and Osi Umanyiora in free agency (even though they are older and less productive). Dumervil's best season as a pro came in the season he played in a 34 defense at Denver, and I know the Saints are transitioning to the 34.

The move of releasing him doesn't make much sense to me, but I guess they really want some open cap room.

Agreed, seems like a desperate move to open money up.

Miller and Dumervil are one of the best pass rushing duos in the NFL.

Would love to have him, but he will be a high cost. I expect Loomis to do a great job despite the cap situation, just not sure if we could get this guy. I'd imagine that he'd be on the wish list though.

We will know a good bit about where the team is heading sometime next week.

By all means, it is under consideration. It all hinges on Elvis Dumervil's decision to restructure his contract or not. There is a link floating around but I am on my iPhone.

If it does happen, i would guess Peyton Manning has more say in personnel decisions than he should

shite yeah we should. Dude is still only 29 and he's a beast in the 34. Would be great to have a vet like him mentor Galette, Wilson, and possibly our new first round pick.

The Denver Post reports contract restructuring talks between the Broncos and RE Elvis Dumervil appear to have reached an impasse.
The exact same term -- "impasse" -- was used in Pittsburgh to describe James Harrison's negotiations before the Steelers cut him. Agent Marty Magid sent the Broncos a contract proposal on Friday, and the two sides have had "no communication" since. Denver may be preparing Dumervil's walking papers. "Elvis has been working out, he’s healthy, he feels great," Magid said. "He wants to stay with the Broncos. Right now, we’re waiting to hear back from them." Mar 10

I still don't see how the Saints would even come close to landing that guy.

Loomis would need some serious wizardry.

Denver sports's talk since Friday has been DJ Williams and Dumervil being cut soon by the Broncos. DJ got cut, today. I hope he's be fairly reasonably priced and available soon.

Only if he wears his blue suede shoes.

But yes. I think he can be a number 1 rusher at the OLB spot. He's better than Kruger and Avril in that role. This also means that he would be more expensive.
