I was just told it was the best real cajun food in the state by a friend who has been all over

I am from ville platte, it has always been known to be really good. There has been new owners since I've been last but I did hear its better than ever!

Ville Platte is the most unique part of the state, IMO. I don't know if that is a good thing or not.
