I think he got about 21pts, and 4 rebounds, but he's more important than that...LSU got a good one...

AAA boys: Johnson-Savannah 61, Savannah 51
7:55 pm March 9, 2013, by Jeff Haws
MACON – For a quarter and a half, two neighborhood rivals battled to a near draw in a hard-fought start.
Then, thanks to a little help from Tim Quarterman, Johnson-Savannah found its offense.
The LSU commit scored 9 of his game-high 21 points in a 3:30 stretch to key a run that gave the No. 3 Atom Smashers the lead and sparked them to a 61-51 win over No. 2 Savannah for the Class AAA title.
It’s the first state title since 1992 for Johnson (25-6), who never surrendered the lead after gaining it around the halfway point of the second quarter, early in that effectively deciding run. The Johnson lead grew to as many as 16 during the second half.
It looked like neither team would ever take control early, as the first quarter grinded on with only 14 total points scored between the two rivals.
The Atom Smashers led 8-6, but it felt like the teams were just standing at midcourt slugging each other.
It stayed tight past the 5-minute mark of the second quarter, when Johnson finally broke free.
Baskets by Devon Holmes and Adrian Bonds started the run, and then Quarterman scored the Atom Smashers’ next 9 points, turning a 2-point lead into 8 points. The 13-4 run gave Johnson the advantage, and the Blue Jackets (28-4) never got closer than 5 the rest of the way.
Every time Savannah would make a couple of baskets and look like it could make a run to get back into the game, Johnson had an answer.
One such moment came with 2:19 left in the third, when back-to-back dunks by Tyreese Rivers and Chris Cokley made it 40-30. Johnson took a timeout, Quarterman knifed to the basket for a layup, and the Savannah momentum was quelled.
A big part of the reason Johnson was able to keep Savannah at arm’s length throughout the second half was defense.
The Blue Jackets shot only 34 percent overall and 22 percent on 3-pointers. The Atom Smashers turned the ball over 18 times, but their ability to make shooting difficult for Savannah made up for any ball-control issues.
On offense, Johnson’s advantage inside also paid dividends, outscoring Savannah 34-20 in the paint, along with posting a 32-28 rebounding advantage.
Jermaine Williams led Savannah with 18 points and 6 rebounds; teammate Jamal Norman had 16 points and 7 rebounds. The Atom Smashers only attempted three 3-pointers and didn’t make any.

So Jarrell Martin and Tim Quarterman won state. What did Jordan Mickey (Prime Prep) do in their state tourney?

Watching replay now. Dude is silky smoooooooth. Nothing rattles Quarterman. Glides up and down the court like a Cadillac Brougham.

I missed the game
But saw some good things on scanning replay. Quarterman will really excel in JJ's system IMO. Perfect fit. If he could develop a defensive presence like Garrett Temple with his similar length, he'll be deadly in the SEC.

Prime Prep won the NACA National Championship... So we had two state champs and a national champ.... damn good. I think Prime Prep went like thirty something and 3 on the year. Really good club over there.
We have three guys who are WINNERS. They play for winning teams and are use to winning. Should be good for us to have next season.

This is Johnson-Savannah's 3rd state title. The first was in 1968 and last one before this year's was in 1992. The star of the '92 team was the late Arthur Quarterman, Tim's uncle. Being a winner is in this young man's blood.

Is that an AAU league?

I think it's an invitational tournament. Prime Prep went 35-0 on the year... They have some sick athletes on that team. They moved up to 1st in texas and 4th in nation in rankings done by MaxPrep.com.

Timestamps or cliff notes. Want to watch, but not 2 hours.

He has a great run from around the 30 minute mark (of video or 5:30 of second quarter)through halftime. Im just at halftime right now.
I'll try to make note of any spectacular plays. I think he already has like 18 in the first half, so I don't think he is gonna get much in the second. He is in foul trouble.

From about 3:35 mark in the 2nd quarter down to the 1 minute mark he goes on a run where he has 9 points. I think it's three buckets, and 3 FTs he makes. Really took over in that time frame and is what put Johnson-Savannah up with a comfortable lead at halftime they never let up with the rest of the game.

at the 2:30 mark in third quarter 1:12:00 into the video, Quarterman has a really nice drive to the hole where he makes the layup.
1:49:30 he makes a sweet dunk. It's after the whistle, but still good to see his athleticism.
