I live on Oahu. Want to visit one of the other islands. Me and a buddy are goin for about a week. Hiking, watersports, eating good food, chasing women are our intended activities.

Great place, but more for marriage and/or retirement as far as living imo. Great to visit though.

Oh, well you should go to Maui or maybe go to Kona on the Big Island. Kauai is awesome for beaches and hiking. But for food and women? Ehh, not as good as Oahu or Maui. A lot of us single guys when I was living on Kauai would call it "Monk Island"... ha, but it has gotten better in the past few years.

I figured you might be Army when you said you lived here. Yeah, but you really can't beat the weather here man. I lived in California after NOLA and the weather was good, but this is just wonderful. I think I will always live in Hawaii or at least Cali. Weather is so important to me. How long you been out here?

Yeah, if I moved out again fresh like I did 8 years ago, I would choose Maui. but I had a job waiting on Kauai. Maui is a nice mix of Kauai and Oahu.

I have only been to Kauai with my wife. Do not go if picking up women and partying are your top concern. It is an absolutely stunning place for scenery and outdoor activities, but lack a little in great food and places to party.
We loved it, just depends on what your main reason for going is.
