I like Ticks and Leeches. I feel the way you do about Rosetta Stoned. In my opinion, Lateralus is their best album. The tension between the band and Maynard created some awesome music.

I disagree

I think aenima was their pinnacle as far as songwriting goes

I'm in this camp - I like Undertow and Lateralus, as well, but I end up listening to Ænima over and over.

"Eulogy", "Forty-Six and 2" and "Ænima" are probably my 3 favorite Tool songs, all on Ænima - certainly 3 out of the top 5.

You won't get an argument out of me. To me: 1a: Lateralus 1b: Ænima

My favorite Tool songs are on Lateralus: The Patient, The Grudge, and Lateralus. Also, the tours following Lateralus were incredible. I'm glad I got to see them live after every album they have put out. Mainly because of the length of their songs, I doubt they'll play songs like dispostion, reflection, triad again. Same with Eulogy. Glad I got to see that one.

The only 2 discs in my changer right now are:

1. An MP3 disc with all the Def Leppard I can fit on it.

2. Tool - Ænima

I listen to undertow and aenima every now and then

aenima holds up so well even 16 years later.

haven't really dug much after aenima

they went full on math rock/experimental rock and I think the songwriting suffered IMO

10,000 days was very disappointing. the album is pretty forgettable. Lateralus was Danny and Justin getting after it. In my opinion, Adam wanted 10,000 days to be more guitar driven which is why it wasn't up to Tool's standards... a "talk box"... really?

I enjoy listening to Lateralus rearranged into the Holy Gift. Definitely a different listening experience.

I still hold Opiate as my favorite Tool release. Yes it is raw and lacks some complexity of their later work, but many years later remains in my rotation.

I have not been disappointed with any of Tool's releases. Even 10,000 Days.

Hate to say it - as an album by "A Perfect Circle", it might have worked - as a Tool album, meh.
