Which makes it a pretty good deal even if you're a liberal. We'd never get those kinds of defense cuts otherwise. We just have to hope the cuts don't impact economic growth.

Remind me again. When was the last time Barry did anything other than blame Republicans?

main reason i was for it. no chance of getting this much reduction in military spending any other way.

i wouldnt call the economy "growing" at this point really
obama and the dems havent been that concerned with it before, if they had, we wouldnt have such idiotic policy coming from them. id find it pretty disingenuous for them to start showing real concern over some fairly meager cuts.

I am all for military cuts. Of course entitlement reform is the Big Fish that has to be addressed.

My problem with the sequester is its net impact on the debt/deficit is likely to be neutral. Cuts good, slower economic growth bad, net impact zero on deficit.

Which is true. Do you not remember teh debt ceiling debates of 2011? Repubilcans refused to raise the debt ceiling without spending cuts. It is 100% the Republicans falut.

dont remember you complaining much about any of the other measures this admin has taken that has slowed economic growth though. why the concern over cuts then?

We do have to make cuts. We are spending insane amounts of money. Raising the debt ceiling once is enough of a precedent for these morons to want to do it over and over. So you blame the GOP for these cuts? Well, Obama signed it. Now that he signed it he is throwing blame the other way. Now Obama is getting up there at the podium trying to scare the electorate, saying these cuts will cripple services. He is a lying pos.

Or maybe my sarcasm meter is broke with your post. I am not sure.

It's Bush's fault. Always has, always will be. And you know what the MSM will back him on that 100% right off the cliff.

It takes two to tango and both sides, Democrats and Republicans, don't want to dance. A pox on both their houses.

In 2008, the year of the first Obama win, when he had a 9.5 million vote win, the Democrats won the House by a margin of 257-178.

I see you point, however, you are missing a key ingredient:

Since 2008, how many more entitlements have been created or expanded, and how many MILLIONS of Americans are now taking those entitlements.

Answer? Enough to create a majority that now depend on Obama and the Democrats for gifts.

If Amnesty goes through for illegals, they too will want their share of the pie. There is a reason this Administration is advertising free food stamps south of the border. They are so close to collapsing the system they can taste it.

It will happen much sooner than I thought. I'm sorry you and others are still in denial.

2014 elections will show you're wrong.

A lot can happen between now and then but let's say that growth remains flat and unemployment ticks up and Obama blames it on the cuts. Let's say that happens over the next couple of months and the 2014 happens this June.

Assuming the public agrees that the cuts are to blame, the election will still hinge on one key economic question: "Should we increase govt spending?" Right now, most voters would say 'no.'

Telling the truth about Obama may not work but it is much better than getting kicked abused like Michael Vick's dog before complete surrender every time a "budget crisis" comes up.

I'm not in denial in any sense of the word. I simply understand the difference between winning a national or state election versus winning a congressional district election. Even with Obama on the ballot (bringing out large groups of voters who will not show up in 2014) and the MSM completely in bed with Democratic Party, the Republicans lost only a handful of the seats they won in 2010. The districts that stayed Republican through that mess of a 2012 election will hold in 2014, and a few will be won back.

The Dems control the Senate due to the strength of large urban areas dominating their respective states, said dominance disappearing when congressional districts weigh in individually.

4.5 million fewer Americans voted for Obama in 2012 than voted for him in 2008, even with a one-sided media holding him up on its collective shoulders. His percentage of the vote got smaller as well. It's not like his popularity is surging right now. The more of a wedge he throws into the country, the stronger the opposition to him will be reinforced at the congressional district level.

The Republican party may be a mess right now, but the anti-Obama sentiment is stronger than it has ever been.

You saw how the country responded in November of 2010 to two years of Obama having a lock-step Dem Senate AND House, and how he was able to use that advantage to pass an unpopular healthcare bill. The voters will realize in November of 2014 that returning the House to the Dems will mean two years of Obama ruling with free reign, and having zero accountability to worry about when he is a non-candidate in 2016.

There will be strong support for Republican House candidates in 2014 not because they are Republicans, but because they are not Democrats, and thus can keep the leash on Obama on his final laps as President.

Agree with this and the Dems certainly don't have overwhelming control of the Senate since the number of liberal and conservative states are pretty even.

quote:

Tend to agree with this also. Independents have seen what happens when the liberal Democrats control Congress and the Executive branches: one of the largest fiasos in U.S. history was passed with insufficient transparency, Obmacare. Hopefully most voters will realize just how dangerous it would be to give Dems complete control. However, part of me secretly wants it to happen so that when the collapse ensues, there will be no one to blame but the liberal Democrats. The aftermath of such a collapse would likely be a more conservative approach to government (less government) as we are seeing through the austerity measures in Europe.
