The subject matter of Michael Haneke's Amour is something rarely talked about much less made into a movie. It is a love story about an elderly couple who are getting to their final stages in life. The movie deals with the impossible decisions that an elderly couple and their daughter have make about caring for a dying loved one. It's a movie that both touches and pains its viewers. For myself and with most viewers, Amour hits close to home.

It is one of those movies that tells you what is going to happen in the very beginning. The two leads (the elderly couple) give incredible performances. J. Lawrence was great in SLP but E. Riva's performance was also Oscar worthy. Director Michael Haneke did an impressive job, it all seemed so real. Aeshetically, the movie was shot and framed well and it all took place in an apartment (save one or two scenes). While some of it is downright hard to watch, it was hard to look away. Amour was one of the darkest most heart wrenching love stories I have come across. I highly recommend this movie.

Agree or disagree?

Another macabre masterstroke of minimalist European art house from Haneke.

Everyone should see it at least once

There is no way in hell I'm seeing this movie. I don't want to be depressed for a month
