We have a massive talent and size injection coming into the program after this season. Are the freshmen we will add enough to get us to be a top 25 squad?

Possibly yes, or at least in the field of 64 for an NCAA Tourney berth...

I would think definitely. But, it's all on JOB3 realizing he's NOT ready for the league yet and stay in baton rouge for one more season. I just keep having a bad feeling about that though...

Del Piero gone - will miss him, would love to have seen him with more time under JJ
Ludwig gone
Carmouche gone - his presence will be missed
O'Bryant at a minimum will test the waters but if he comes back could potentially go from 2nd round/not drafted to early 2nd/late 1st

With the post players coming in LSU will be alright even without Johnny, at least they will have some more size either way

Guard play adds Quarterman and I think Malik Morgan will really turn into a better player next year to offset loss of Carmouche.

Only problem with Stringer and Hickey is their size which tends to hurt this team defensively.

Odo > ADP

Darcy Malone > Ludwig

Martin > Carmouche

*Tough cause the senior leadership Carmouche brings and his play as of late but still feel this way.*

Mickey will immediately backup JOB.

Quarterman >>>> Collins

Team will be in much better position next year.

I have talked to some people who are in the know and they say Martin would be the best player on our team right now. He is a game changer and if he comes close to his potential, we will be very good next year. If we Keep JOB on that team and then Hickey and Quarterman and hopefully Stringer continues to grow...its going to be a fun year.

This may be true but this is the WEAKEST draft class in a long time.

With the way basketball contracts work, its not about where you get drafted... You have to have staying power. They can drop you to D league and cut your salary if you aren't a 1st round pick. I don't think he is a first round pick even in a porr draft class.

This kid will get chewed up and spit out on any NBA tryout this year. He has to mature greatly to have any chance. He still needs lots of work. I hope his family realizes this........he may be a 4 year player before he's ready.

With JOB, no one knows his family situation, some players just want to start their professional career wherever that takes them - d league, overseas - it is a weak draft class especially with all the UK one and doners that have fizzled out. He may be tired of school.

He openly talked about being a one and done before he stepped foot on campus.

Ceiling on the team next year is unlimited as long as JOB III stays. We will have our first FULL team of scholarship players since we won the SEC last in 2009. Not only just a full team of scholarship players, but GOOD/QUALITY depth. We'll have guys like Quarterman, Mickey, Coleman and Morgan or Stringer come off the bench. Guys like Courtney, Collins and Hammink can log their minutes in the games that get out of hand instead of trying t ogive us quality minutes in tight games.

I agree. Not only will it help the current team, but future recruiting as well. Hopefully the surge here at the end, and the up tempo style will attract the fans.

This is the way I can see minutes break down...

Hickey = 30-35 min
JOB III = 25-30 min
Martin = 25-30 min
Odo = 20-25 min
Stringer = 20-25 min
Coleman = 20-25 min
Morgan = 15-20 min
Mickey = 15-20 min
Quarterman = 10-15 min
-----------------------

That's the 9-man rotation I think we use. With...

Hammink = 5-10 min
Courtney = 0-5 min
Collins = 0-5 min

Getting the blowout minutes and spot duty in big games if injuries to 9-man rotation. I would like to see Hammink make big strides though because I think he has the size and ability...just its a bit of a shock it looks to be going from the Netherlands youth leagues to big college basketball in 1 year for him. Malone I think redshirts so he can make the proper transition which Hammink should have gotten too if we had a better roster this year.

Guess you are assuming Malone redshirts? I wouldn't mind a redshirt on him if we can get away with it. Im not sure if we can though.
