What other options did you look into and what made you choose vanguard over them?

Looked into all of the big boys.... Schwab, TD Ameritrade, etc...

Vanguard had the highest customer satisfaction ratings that I saw and their fees were the lowest. The fee on the 2040 account is something like .18%

I wanna say the average return for their 2040 account was 9% over the past 70yrs (history of funds) with the lowest being -20 and the highest being 48%. (Dont hold me to those numbers)

All in all, I couldn't find one thing negative about them

If you have less than $100k with which to work, Vanguard may be the best option. If you have more than that, I would take a few free consultations in your area with financial advisors of all walks. A couple of meetings now will likely save you a shit-ton of headache in the future.

I can do ANYTHING I need to online and can have them on the phone within 30 seconds.

You won't go wrong with vanguard. They haven't been around as some, but they have very solid funds with low expenses. Them and American funds are my favorite fund families.

Or if you want to talk, I'd be more than happy to entertain

I kid. I'd go vanguard if I were you.

I am not knocking Vanguard and I agree that they are relatively simple. That being said, the VAST majority of people lack the education that should be a part of any prudent investment strategy.

If you don't know what you are doing, Vanguard will do no better for you than any of the other big boys. I would walk into a financial advisor's office and try to educate myself on investing before I stash all of my money in a low-cost index fund. Maybe that ends up being the best option for me, but until I talk to someone (multiple people in my experience) I will not know what else is available.
