I am looking at a Gen 3 Glock 20SF 10MM.

I've never owned a Glock, but this board has given me a hard-on for a 10 mm and I can't find one from any other manufacturer.

What's the difference between the different Glock Gens, is one better than the other? Is it an indication of maturity or just a model number?

TIA.

For the 10mm Glocks, they are probably only available in gen3. Gen 1 was only the glock 17, and maybe a very very few 19's. The gen 2's had a different grip texture, no finger groves, and no rail for a light. The 3rd gen added finger groves, and a light rail. The 4th gen slimmed the grip down very slightly, added changeable back straps, a slight more aggressive grip texture, and changed the guide rods up a little to reduce recoil. They all work well, although some of the early gen 4's had a few issues which seem to be resolved.

ETA: I stand corrected... the G20 is available in gen4... I'd probably get the gen4 if I was buying

I think it might have been one of the gen4's just introduced at shot show this past year so it probably hasn't hit the market yet
