Anyone goin to the micro guided rods? Im fixin to buy some new fishin grip and wondering if this is a fad or the real deal. I bought a carbonlite from bass pro with micros last year and it seems pretty good but not sure if i wanna go with all micros. What's the ob's thoughts...

they are counter intuitive for sure. I am still waiting on a definitive test where everything is exactly the same except for the guides. I don't think they want to do it because it will expose the fad. just my opinion though.

Here is a good read on them. They are what they are. Nothing earth shattering but def a step up.

I've got carrot sticks with and without. the one without is 7'10" the one with is 7". can't tell. I have an Angler Envy 7" with large (almost bullet proof) guides and it will outcast them both. It has a Pennix blank.

I might get something, not too expensive, one with standard and one with micro, and do a little testing. anyone interested in seeing a video of the results?

I have a couple, and like them. Falcons.

I 'think' they are a bit more sensitive, with more contact from line to rod, but thats just me.

The only test I can think of that won't require building some kind of casting machine, is a maximum distance test without adjusting the reel and not backlashing. Then take the reel off and put it on the other rod and get its max distance.

Any other ideas?

I was wondering about about the difference in sensitivity, but not sure how to test for that.

Mach316, I think there are a few things that effect sensitivity more than guides. Line choice, rod blank, tip flex, and reel seat.

I will reach out to a couple of experts to see their thoughts on the effect of micro guides on sensitivity.
