I watch them train everyday, they aimlessly fly B-52's around 24 hours a day burning millions of dollars of jet fuel every day. It takes 5-6 thousand pounds of jet fuel just to get a B-52 off the ground

I've lived here my entire life, how much much benefit can come from doing touch and go's 24-7 365, this isn't the cold war, we have Subs and Silos, we don't need planes in the air 24/7.
We are out of money, what benefit does training do when you are borrowing the money from China?

Yeah why do you think they do all those worthless ill planned touch and goes at KBAD?
What could be different about KBAD than say Minot? Hmmm could it be it is the training base for B-52 newbies?
Everything from basic flight through to wepaons deployment.
Which is cheaper launching an aircraft for touch and goes only or using one that has flown to the range so that the rest of the crew gets training?

BIG cuts are GOING TO HAPPEN. Just a matter of whether it's deliberate and targeted...or across the board.
No way they can give Obama the power to 'target'...cause he'll demagouge and do cuts to support his ideological agenda, while hurting his political opposition for the '14 election.
There needs be some BAD HURT, so what's left of the sane folk will wake up an NEVER elect a man like Obama again.
It's goin down; we'll have to build from the bottom up.

The problem is he doesn't want departments to have the flexibilty to do the smart thing, he wants it to be a slash and burn plan so he can score easy political points.

Congress and Obama are bitching about 85 billion dollars this year, not 2.5 trillion as Oboe and the media are bitching about loudly. Woodward said the other day that Oboe was fibbing about the deal. Why did he not say that the Messiah was lying his arse off as that is what a fib is, a lie.

How about replacing some of those civilians with actual military personnel. I'm sure the USAF has some reservists/ANG members they can recall to fill the billets. Civilians are one of the reasons VAW-77 is no longer operational.

It is depressing to see military brass carrying water for Obama. Even with the cuts they will still have more operating revenue than was received last year, what has changed that makes this not enough?

The problem is the number of months remaining in the fiscal year to get it done, basically half way through the fiscal year. Compounded by the CR we are operating under is rapidly running out as well. Weak I know but that is the reality.
