I think he feels free to just provides sound bites with no context because the contradictions aren't of any concern to the media.

You can only cry wolf so many times before people start looking the other way. I'm starting to believe this is all one big setup for the 2014 elections if the economy continues to contract. "Those pesky republicans caused this new recession by manufacturing the fiscal cliff and sequestration nonsense."

He also campaigned on working across the aisle. He said he would be more willing to compromise in his second term. Now of course, he's refusing to do just this. Lying mf'er.

He said we "need to acknowledge that we're going to have to make modest reforms", he's not willing to do any thing but he's now almost willing to say somethng modest needs to be done.
