Why are the two so different?

Miles wears his baseball hat funny.

because baseball fans and football fans, in general, are two different types of people. it's not an lsu specific thing

Pretty much true for every fan base for each respective sport.
The way the sports are played attracts different types of personalities

IDK if I buy that because I don't think there are many (if any) LSU baseball fans that aren't also LSU football fans.

I mean obviously just based on the size of the stadium but I still think its odd and just the differences in the sports doesn't tell the whole story.

How awesome would it be if the football team played three game series?

1. Baseball - we high five the opponent and get autographs after they've eliminated us from super regional.
2. Football - we bash our coach and players after going 13-1.

Yeah, nobody ever bitched about Smoke.
Yeah, nobody ever bitched about Javi.
Yeah, nobody ever bitched about losing to Stony Brook.

it's not just LSU. This is the case for all baseball teams. The fanbase for baseball is by and large older and more reserved than your average football fan. It's just a completely different sport that attracts a different type fan base. Baseball fans are also usually more knowledgeable of how the game works. It takes a lot more effort to really follow a baseball team with the pace of the game and how many games there are. A casual football fan isn't going to put forth the effort to care that much.

In my observation, baseball fans are very knowledgeable and have self respect for the game knowing that a team will go through it's ups and downs. Football fans tend to expect perfection or nothing...oh and add alcohol.

Theres so many more games in a baseball season (66?) then in football.
Baseball team loses some OOC games plus a series or two and the season's goals are still easily attainable
Football has a much, much smaller margain for error so theres always high pressure which tends to leave fans with short fuses and alot more on edge

Baseball is an "almost" sport. We almost won that game, he almost made that catch, etc. football is an all or nothing sport, we got our arse kicked by Bama, etc.
In baseball, fans think you have a good team if you go .500, in football if you don't go undefeated or one loss, you got no shot at SEC or NC.
Baseball was invented by slow, white, non athletic guys, so their standards for success are much lower.
