The Hornets are expected to explore an offseason trade for Eric Gordon.
Not a huge surprise. It was reported that Gordon would likely remain with the team through the deadline, but the club will revisit the possibility of dealing him in the offseason. With a checkered health history and massive contract, the Hornets will have their work cut out for them.

Exactly my thought process on this. They tried their best to shop him now, but theres nothing to shop. He hasn't done much for the hornets and has been injury plagued his NBA career. This is why no deal was made before the deadline.

Now they will try and get some production out of EG10 so that he is worth something when they try to make a deal in the offseason. Good move by the hornets, but in no way possible they are happy having EG10.

Your thread title couldn't be more misleading. This is nothing new.

This. No one from the organization has said a word about this. If he comes back, plays well, and stays injury free, I highly doubt he goes anywhere. They didn't match his deal to trade him.

No I'm totally fine with that. Much appreciated. But their headline title and your thread title don't say the same thing. I expected the article to say that it's definitely happening.

You linked to Rotoworld which linked to the TP article which said the Hornets are "likely to remain open to trading Gordon" which to many people's dismay is very different from Gordon To Be Moved in Offseason

Actually, the may have. If they didn't match the offer, he would have left without getting anything in return. By matching, they can either keep him or trade him.

I do think Demps had hoped it would work out, but I also think he would have signed him anyway. The cap space from letting Gordon walk probably would have turned into someone like OJ Mayo. Demps obviously thought he could at least get Klay Thompson. Demps still has to prove that he's right, but if the debate is Thompson vs. Mayo I think Thompson is who you choose.

I'm an impeccable source bitch.

Anyway this gets a massive "duh". They'll try to trade him again when his no trade clause expires and other teams miss out on the big names in FA.

If they still can't trade him, you have to hope he gets as close to 100% health that EG will get to and play well next season.

I'd rather just trade Gordon for Phoenix's first round pick than bringing in Mayo

Really?

Mayo has been really solid this year. I think it's finally clicked for him.
