Only threads I saw when I searched were when the movie came out in theaters. Figured I'd make a new one since it just came out on dvd and ppv.

I saw it last night. Movie was pretty crazy. I thought it was a good departure from the same old horror story. I mean, I guess there was some old horror cliche stuff in it, but for the most part I thought it was a quality movie. Anyone else see it yet?

I saw it in theaters. I thought it was decent. Definitely an original idea.

Yeah, I can see that. Ending was a little disappointing, but I thought the rest was a superb horror movie.

Are there going to be spoilers in this discussion, because I wanted to watch it tonight or sometime this week?

I didn't plan on putting any. Just wanted to see what people thought about it.

Are there a lot of jump scares, like the lawnmower scene?

There aren't a lot, but there are a few. I just found the mood of the movie to be totally creepy.

Cool. I like a movie that doesn't rely solely on jump scares.

I've read some people were disappointed in it, but I thought it was damn good.

It was alright, but I think it fell a little flat of what it could've been. Lawnmower was definitely the scariest part. And like people said the ending was kinda meh.

I think this is a legit gripe, but I read once (Stephen King I think) it's not always about the destination, but the journey there. In this case I think that totally fits.

so much potential, great acting performances, a legit freaky looking antagonist...and a "meh" payoff.

SPOILERS

kids as killers = not scary to me.

imo, movie would have been MUCH scarier had the kids been doing the filming of each murder

Oh I agree with you. The ending could have been much better, and I think your idea for the end is good. Actually, that's what I thought the ending was going to be. Like I said though, I enjoyed the movie very much up until the end, so I still think it was really good.

Been a while since I movie made me feel uneasy at certain parts like this one did. Well, I'd say Insidious did and that wasn't too long ago, but before that it had been a while.

I'll be checking this out on the redbox. Wanted to see it in theaters but never got a chance. Figure it's worth atleast $1.20.

I remember us talking about that after it came out. Disappointing.

Here were my comments after watching it:
quote:

As for the plot, I liked it enough. I did not like how the kids were the killers...it's just not terribly believable. I was able to try and make myself buy into the whole "well, they're possessed by this evil spirit, so I guess" thing but it didn't work at times. I mean, how the frick could these weak, little kids tie their families up and get them into the situations they were in. Even at the end with Ethan Hawke's daughter, I sat there thinking "Is this kid really strong enough to wield that axe around? Cuz those things are pretty heavy." Also, "Did she really take the time to lay down visqueen before brutally murdering her family?" I agree it would've been better had Bughuul done the shite and the kids filmed it. Also, after the movie I was thinking about it...so these small, weak kids (except maybe for that one boy) were doing some of this shite one-handed. Most obvious thing was the lawnmower, where the kid was actually holding the camera while pushing the mower. At least for some of the others, the camera was stationary. But some of those kids would've never been able to pick up/drag/move around their parents, tie them up, etc. I dunno, that kinda bugged me. Also, side note: if you're gonna murder your family with a lawnmower, might wanna do that shite during the day...may alert the neighbors if you do it in the middle of the fricking night.

All in all, I liked it though. Solid horror movie IMO.

Oh, and:

That little girl's face when she appeared right next to Ethan Hawke got me though. That was awesome. Everybody in the theater was laughing cuz it got all of us.
