Who are some guys that might jump into the top 14 picks who are not expected to?

I brought this up because ESPN radio this morning was on the topic of QBs rising and jumping into the top 12 because of the number of teams needing to make splash. Mentioned this draft could see the same type of movement we saw with the 2011 draft when Locker, Gabbert and Ponder were off the board in the first 12 picks. None of those guys were a lock to go that high.

Since we need help and don't need a QB, we have to hope a few teams roll the dice on a QB before we pick. Who are the most likely candidates?

It looks like Geno Smith is inked in the top 10. Here are my dark horses to go in the top 14; I think there's a good chance at least 3 of these guys go before the Saints pick:

Matt Barkley...some team will bite on the USC mystique.

Ryan Nassib...obvious connection with the Bills coach.

E.J. Manuel...Some team will hope for the next RGIII/Russell Wilson/Kaepernick.

Tyler Wilson...big arm on a team that was as lost as Charlie Sheen.

Mike Glennon...The kid is getting a lot of attention...that usually equates to a run up the board.

Tyler Bray...has shown ability in spite of poor coaching.

Who do you think will make a jump???

If two or more QBs go in the top 15, well have a chance at a great pick

More likely than ever. Teams can afford drafting a QB that highly even if the spot is too high because of the new CBA. Every team save for about 8 are QB crazy.

Maybe. People were really high on him, but I think he goes lower 1st round instead of top of 1st round. A la Ryan Mallett.

If anyone jumps up, it will probably be a guy link Mingo or Ansah who will kill it at the combine.

It really depends.

1. Kansas City - They need a QB, but if they opt to let Branden Albert walk, Joeckel is the pick here.

7. Arizona - They too need a QB, but if Eric Fisher falls, I expect him to be the pick here. Perhaps even Chance Warmack, that offensive line is atrocious.

8. Buffalo - I would be really surprised if a QB wasn't selected here. New coach and when his boy, Nassib will be there, it'd be tough to pass on I imagine.

Outside of those three, not sure another could go. Then again, no one knows on draft day and I assume there will be plenty of trading.

I could see a guy like Cordarelle Patterson blowing up the combine and a team falling in love with him. Maybe Buffalo

The thing is Barkley is the best QB to come out of SC since Palmer. I wouldn't be surprised if someone did.

If you thought this about Leinart after learning his major was ballroom dancing, then I feel sorry for you. It was widely known the dude is a slacker who just wanted to live the life there.

I guess it could happen. I mean the list of free agent QB's isn't all that great this year either.

some team will take a chance. just hope there are at least two teams that do

You can't tell me Barkley's stock hasn't dropped dramatically since the season began.

Not someone who is out of the top 14 and could sneak into the top 14, BUT

As a bigtime riser/surprise I think Eric Fisher leaves the NFL Combine as the Overall Number 1 Player on most Big Boards.

That kid is a damn stud, and people will be stunned when they see him above Joeckel.

Who are the teams we are fighting for OLBs for?
I've seen kicks with Jax, Jets, Lions all taking DEs/OLBs.
I think if Moore, Mingo, Jones, or Jordan are there, Saints will pull the trigger. Only way they don't IMO is if for some crazy reason one of those top two tackles falls.

The Jets at nine for sure and then only titans left i think. After that it looks good for us.

Oh, it has. However, teams will always covet a QB if they feel he has the potential to be a franchise player. Look at teams jumping up to grab Christian Ponder, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Tim Tebow.

Now tie in an extremely weak FA class where your best option might be Alex Smith and a draft class not strong at all. I've watched him play and in my opinion, he is far and wide the best prospect in the class. Glennon and Tyler Wilson would be the next best.

Nassib could go to Buffalo at 8 which helps us and then I see a few teams who might even call the Saints in order to jump up to 15.
