Why would you not count alcohol? If all those other substances are drugs then alcohol sure as hell is one too.

Yeah, it's not an illegal drug like the other ones are.

Alcohol would be the last thing on my list. I actually like remembering the music.

Still a drug IMO

And MDMA is an amphetamine...

and we're talking about writing music, not listening to music

For rock musicians of the 60's- LSD; for jazz musicians of the 50's & 60's- heroin.

I don't get this argument. I get pretty wasted at shows, but can always remember everything musically.

Most of those rock guys in the 60s were doing heroin as well. LSD was really only responsible for the psychedelic scene. Pretty much every other rock genre of that time used a shite ton of heroin

Cocaine was pretty influential as well. Just think without coke there would be no disco or the majority of 80s music. I'm not saying those two movements were particularly good but it is what it is

Cant really pick one over the other.

I would say psychedelics are first.

After that its a crap shoot. All the great artists in the 60's and 70's were on heroin and speed.

90's music was most influenced by meth.

First of all disco is awesome

Secondly Paul McCartney said he used a ton of blow during the Sgt. Pepper's sessions, which I always found interesting.

Ot whatever Zepplin was on when they made the song remains the same.

Great song to listen to while high on pot. Haven't experimented with any hardcore drugs.

I do want to try LSD or shrooms once or twice. Just want to see what a trip is really like.

Still has a greater influence on music (any genre) than any other drug if nothing else but the availability. Probably more than half the songs written were penned on booze, and many of them are about booze.

I so appreciate music much more when I am drunk. High is still better. Both is the perfect combo.

I can't imagine too much music being written while drunk. It is so fricking hard to play the guitar while drunk... at least for me.

The other night I ate some shrooms and listened to The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, and L.A. Woman. I have listened to all three countless times before, but with the shrooms it sounded like I was listening to them for the first time. You really hear so much more when you're tripping, especially with Pink Floyd.

LOL

That is what I hear. Steve Jobs even admitted as much.

I guess I'm just scared to try it alone (or be the only first time user) or have a bad trip... of course I have to find someone to buy them from as well.

Bad trips are overblown by people. Just do it in a chill environment with a friend or two. The key is letting go. Releasing. Just gotta relax and remember nothing bad will happen if you just chill the frick out. I suggest just laying in bed and putting music on.

It's 90% what you're expecting going into it... If you have the mindset that it's going to be fun and baddass and positive then you will have a great time, if you are worried you'll freak out and after you take it you start panicking and trippin yourself out then it will be the worst time of your life..

Most important part. And turn your cell phone off, too
