It's a better direction than gun control legislation. Better mental health evaluation should be part of the bill. But in the end the only way to literally combat murderers with guns in public places is with trained staff with guns.

Where I live in NC they already took this upon themselves to have a cop in each school. There is not much of a monetary burden as they do it in watches of duty;split between sheriffs and city police.. But Uncle Obama wants to send money anyway and AGAIN fails to use logic and common sense that some states got this down.

Cajun, do you even read something before you make a stupid comment? GOP reps proposed this measure. It is a small amount and would force cities - and I guess your area of NC - to go without officiers on duty. On a national scale 30 mill is nothing. Most cities have a police force that could use a few more officers not sitting around a school eating donuts.
