| Governor Jindal spent at least 86 days politicking out of state in 2012 (Posted on 2/17/13 at 5:46 pm)
During 2012, Gov. Bobby Jindal spent almost one day of every four — at least 86 of 365 days — out of the state, mostly campaigning for Republican candidates around the nation and speaking to conservative political groups. Various GOP supporters and campaigns paid for Jindal’s hotel rooms and airfare for the campaign trips. Louisiana taxpayers, however, paid $65,000 to feed, house and, often, fly his security team. Those taxpayer dollars also often ensured that the governor’s luggage arrived ahead of him, allowing him to quickly move through airports LINK Bobby Jindal receives an annual salary of $130,000..not too bad for a part time gig

Good. I find the more politicians stay out of our state the better off we are. I also find that the more vacation they take the better off we are. I would take Jindal gone 360 days a year compared to most of our past gov's working 360 days a year.

How does this compare to other governors, US Senators and Representatives?

How is that even relevant? Should teachers teach when kids are not in school? I am pretty sure teachers salaries are not a huge issue. The Teachers Retirement and Union are without a doubt.

Obama takes that many vacation days plus that many campaign days (even after he has won!).

Because both are being paid from tax payers dollars. If they are public school teachers.

They aren't? I am assuming that the OP was complaining about tax payers money being spent and are we getting what we pay for. Retirement you claim is without a doubt a problem, well that is tied to the salary of the employee.

and you dont think any of this time was spent bringing new jobs and businesses into Louisiana? maybe getting ceo's to look at louisiana, and not be worried ol' EE will want a cut, as a place they could bring their companies too and provide jobs for us and bring in more money to our economy? im sure alot of these fund raisers had a few ceo's and big money guys there.

I'm sure some of that time was trying to recruit business and some was political. The latter is one reason for his loss of support among conservatives.

It sure is different to have a governor about whom the national party and candidates aren't embarrassed.

Maybe his tax "plan" would have consisted of more than a hastily written two page memo that he was so ashamed of that he collected all the copies before the legislative leaders left the room.

I would ask the same about your boy Barack Obama before he got into the White House.

That was my thought. You'd think it would be far higher. People need to remember we live in an age of modern technology. He's not making this trips during legislative sessions, generally speaking. We have these things called cell phones, laptops, satellites, teleconferences, the Internet. He can keep the gears of government moving without being physically present.

Weak sauce. If you're looking to badmouth Jindal, you're gonna have to try harder than this. $65,000 is nothing. And at least his expenses to the taxpayers were politics-related. That's more than the many Obama family vacations can say.
