First 1-0 win for LSU baseball since 1995...Could it be 2 in 2 days? NOPE!

There have been 3 or 4 1-0 losses since then...but 18 years between 1-0 wins is very odd for sure.

Tulane beat LSU 1-0 in the early 2000s ish. LSU left the bases loaded in the 9th.

With today's bats, it won't be 18 years till it happens again. Without looking through all the back scores I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't have a season or two where we had no 1 run games. I would almost assume 97 was like that

The 1997 season featured 2 games where LSU scored only 1 run. Since LSU homered in every single game they played that year, they weren't shut out of course...and in those games where they scored 1 run, it was on a solo homer each time. For the record, it was Casey countz and Mike Koerner who kept the HR streak alive in those games...

I remember this game, this was when Tulane awesome, we had runners all over the bases and they kept making great defensive plays

I knew that stat, so that's why I made that assumption, but hell we all know what happens when you assume.
Thanks for that little stat.
Though my assumptions were wrong, the point is still the same that with the older bats we had much much fewer 1 run games.

I should have figured this up the first time...but we scored 3 runs or less in only 6 of 70 games that year (1997). By comparison, we scored 3 runs or less 19 times in 65 games last year. So your point is very valid.

People talk about "unbreakable records"...the 188 homers in 1997 and homering in every single game of the year will never be even remotely approached again.

Not really odd, the old bats made it EXTREMELY difficult for 1-0 games to happen, now they will happen from time to time.

I have always said no record is unbreakable. As the old cliche goes, "records are made to be broke."
Those records are getting touched. Just not possible with today's bats. Likely wasn't really all that possible with the 09 bats.
I wish I would of seen more of LSU back then, but living well out of state in the 90's, there was not much baseball. My first LSU game I saw was the Warren Morris game.
Not a bad way to start.

I called my shot yesterday...after 18 years of no 1-0 games, I predicted 2 straight....so far so good...
