| Ingalls in as OL Coach, Maurice Carthon & Dan Roushar interviewing for RBs (Posted on 2/15/13 at 10:25 am)
A source tells CoachingSearch.com that Payton plans on shifting current running backs coach Bret Ingalls to offensive line to fill the void created when Aaron Kromer left for the offensive coordinator position with Chicago. LINK News has come out from East Lansing today that Michigan State offensive coordinator Dan Roushar may be on his way out. Roushar has reportedly been drawing interest from the New Orleans Saints for their vacant running backs coach position. Roushar was scheduled to interview with the Saints today for the job and contrary to a normal situation, many Spartan fans may be rejoicing at this opportunity to find a new offensive coordinator. It’s still early in the off-season, so finding an adequate replacement for Roushar would not be an issue because of the quality of coaches still without a job. Roushar received his fair share of criticism from Spartan faithful during the 2012 regular season as well as the team’s appearance in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. The reason for this critical attitude toward the offensive coordinator? He has been one-dimensional at times when calling plays for the Spartan offense. With running back Le’Veon Bell at his disposal, he, at times, over-used the junior running back and thought little about creatively calling plays, instead he handed the ball off to Bell 30-plus times a game. This may have been a reason that the running back decided to leave early because the average career for a running back is already short, his mileage was over-used in college. The Spartan offense was one of the worst in the worst in the Big Ten in 2012 after a solid 2011 season. It doesn’t help that quarterback Andrew Maxwell struggled all season long, especially with the lack of experience and production at the receiver position. wiki- Maurice Carthon resigned as Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator on October 24, 2006 after Cleveland managed only seven points against the Denver Broncos. Under Carthon, the Browns had managed a league-low 232 points in 2005 and had only scored 88 points through six games in 2006. Carthon was the third NFL offensive coordinator to be fired during the 2006 season. Fans—obviously fed up with Carthon—started the "Mo's Gotta Go" movement in October 2006. A website www.firemauricecarthon.com was created to express some fans' displeasure. In early 2008, reports surfaced about a potential reuniting of Carthon and old coach Bill Parcells in Miami. Carthon would not be a candidate for the Miami Dolphins head coaching vacancy, but rather a candidate for offensive coordinator. Carthon been known as a "Parcells Guy", following his former coach from coaching place to place. He has coached under Parcells for the New England Patriots, the New York Jets and, most recently, the Dallas Cowboys. On Feb 19, 2009 the Kansas City Chiefs announced that the club has added Carthon to head coach Todd Haley’s coaching staff. Carthon will serve as assistant head coach.
