In season one the zombies seem a lot faster and more violent. They were still this way in the first part of Season 2, but after that they just became boring. They would actually attack you and run for you, instead of just walking around slow and dumb-like. They even had a zombie climb a chain link fence in Season 1 Episode 2 when they were escaping Atlanta yet a wooden fence stopped an entire herd of them in Season 2. Is there a reason for this, or just the writers changing the way they act?

I noticed that too. I chalked it up to the fact that time is passing, there are less people thus they are feeding less and have less energy...

Maybe I'm over thinking it. Season one they were using tools and shite.

Never seen the show, but maybe the disease they have is making them weaker and weaker?

I considered that they are more trained now, and dealing with Walkers is second nature, but they don't seem as aggressive. They'll just be out in the woods walking around as the group yells and screams at each other. It's like the threat is gone almost.

They are still rotting away. I assume after a few years, the original ones would no longer be able to move.

What about the ones that haven't been dead that long? Surely not all of them died at the same time. And that wouldn't effect the urge to feed. Hell the zombie in Season 1 that was crawling without legs was trying harder than most of the ones in Season 3.

It has been told before that fresher zombies are faster. A wooden fence didn't stop a whole herd. It was just implied.

I have one too. Can a zombie starve after a time of not eating meat? We are told only a shot to the brain stem will kill them. If they do not die from starving, then why the need to eat meat at all?

The scientist in Woodberry said that they are starving, just at a slower rate than live humans.

I wonder what is the decomposition time period then. Because then the solution to this whole world then is to just bide time and outlast the first generation of the mass zombies that will probably be dying their second death in a near future. My solution would still be to head toward the coast and learn to sail toward a less inhabited island. At least odds are swung a little better. Forget this hanging around a jail business. I get it that it is a neat metaphor as they are "imprisoned" by their circumstance, but forget that noise.

They are decomposing, starving, and just overall getting weaker.

Most of the population died in the beginning, thus why you haven't seen any "fresh" walkers. Survivors are scarce, and most animals can outrun the dead. The people that are still alive probably have their shite together or in a system that has worked for over a year.

That may have been a shout out to Bill Hinzman from the original Night of the Living Dead who used a brick to break the car window in the cemetery.

Also Morgan Jones' son is named "Duane". Duane Jones was the name of the actor who played "Ben" also in the original Night of the Living Dead.

etc.

I think some things are just paying homage.

And dehydrating.

I would think that dehydration would be more of a hindrance to zombies than anything else. As the bodies dry out they would should simply fall away to dust.

Well everyone is infected so as more people die, the zombie population continues to grow...
