It doesn't say regular posters vs non posters

Has to mean people that aren't signed up according to that number.
But people signed up and not posting or banned posters are Lurkers IMO

I always took at as the # of posters who were logged in (699 members) vs the # of people visiting the site right now that aren't logged in under a user ID (5085 lurkers). So if you're looking at posts but haven't logged in yet but you are a registered member, you would be considered a "lurker" under those stats, along with visitors who have never registered. It's interesting to check out that line during meltdown time after a big game.
I may be completely wrong though.

To clarify, I consider lurkers as those who are not signed up and reading, in addition to those who sign up and only read.
I assume the site refers to those who arent logged in as lurkers.
If you go to the member list, it tells you who's signed in, some of the names dont have any posts, and they're technically lurking...while signed in.
