Why are the games titled Sonic 4: Episode 1/2 and not Sonic 4/5? I initially held off buying the games because when I thought of an episode, I thought it just meant level 1 and I wasn't going to pay for just 1 level of a game. Also, are these games the same as Sonic Generations?

They are similar to the classic sonic levels in Sonic generations. Each episode is about as long as one of the genesis sonic games.
