Heard he spent his first season after football treating losing weight like it was his job. He trained to lose that bad weight, and then rewarded himself with a 3-month-long summer vacation in Hawaii.

Seems he timed the market just right and bought a condo he'd seen several times at Pro Bowls as the market for real estate crashed nationwide.

Dude was serious about the weight loss. I saw an article on it recently.

Sounds like he is smart enough to know that large men usually suffer heart problems later in life and is trying to steer clear of later in life health issues.

losing fat weight is great. but plenty guys are 250 ish, some more some less and all muscle. nothing wrong with that. so faneca was all fat? didn't look it to me. guess he wanted to lose muscle and bone also along with the fat. because that is what happened if he lost that much that fast.

That's what I was thinking. Even a "thin" NFL OL would seem to be a heavy dude just based on muscle and thick frame

One of all-time greats/ambassadors for LSU and Steelers. Never forget him in '97 Fla. game blocking downfield ahead of Herb Tyler.
Also read great article about how "the Bus" Bettis respected him when he played there.

David Pollack is the same way. Dropped 100 lbs. If those guys wanted to weigh 250 and be healthy, they would need to continue to workout hard with weights to maintain that muscle mass. These guys are interested in health and being physically fit. He might be running or biking now, which is a whole lot easier to do without that extra 40 lbs.
