Another bad year starting off for Carnival. They started last year with the Costa Concordia accident

Damn. I avoid all Carnival Brands including Carnival, Princess, Holland Ameroca, Costa and Seabourn.

Holy shite we have friends on that cruise. I just told my wife and she said a girl she teaches dance with is on a cruise right now. poor thing was already nervous

My wife is supposed to be on that boat in a couple of weeks going on a girls cruise. What happens now? Will they sub another cruise ship? Ready for her to get out of my hair for a few days.

I was on a Carnival ship (my first cruise actually), and we got stuck on a sandbar off the coast of Mexico years ago. It was the Holiday, I think.
They had to get everybody out of the ship and ferry us across the water on little boats, then we had to take a bus to the airport. Then they flew us home, and we had to get a cab to our car.
fricking sucked.
As compensation, they gave us half off of a future cruise.

I think my friend just got off of that boat. She said they hit a bad storm and the boat tipped so hard that everything came off the dinner table. She also said that there was about 3 inches of water in the lobby.

We took the same ship a couple of weeks later and lost all power several times...in the open Gulf, in port in Mexico and as we were disembarking in NO. No ability to deploy stabalizes while we rocked in the gulf during high winds...lots of seasick passengers. During the late dinner sitting when the power was lost for the third or fourth time diners broke into "row, row, row your boat" while sitting in the dark. They offered us the same 50% off deal! You get what you pay for!

Just asked my friend if it was the same boat and she said yes. She said the week before they got on there was a problem with the steering mechanism. Sounds like they need a better boat.

Small world. They told us before we departed that they had repaired the steering problem but did not warn us that the diesel engines needed major repairs! The one benefit of the engins shutting down was that the constant noise and vibration was eliminate...would have been nice if the seas were't so rough.
