| Best RBs in Louisiana history, pre Fournette (more candidates added) (Posted on 2/9/13 at 1:33 pm)
Rank 'em, then tell us where you'd put Fournette in relation. Tell us your criteria (straight up high school player, college prospect, etc.). Let's reserve judgement for Fournette until his body of work is complete. Personally, I think talk of him being No. 1 is premature. Below is a starting point. This is extremely off-the-top-of-my-head and after about the first 15 or so, I stopped trying to rank them and just started adding names that belong in the conversation. I'm sure I'm forgetting some and have probably never heard of some that you guys would argue belong on the list. Anyway, it's a starting point. Look at what I have here, then tell me how you'd rank them: 1. Kevin Faulk -- I know he was technically a QB, but let's face it; Carencro's offense had no QB. They snapped it directly to the RB, thus eliminating the middle man. 2. Billy Cannon -- Based on hearsay. Can't make him No. 1 because it was a segregated era and the competition was watered down. He never had to face something the competition of later eras. 3. Dalton Hilliard 4. Garry James 5. Jimmy Taylor 6. Cecil Collins 7. John David Crow 8. Terry Robiskie 9. Jerry Stovall 10. Joe McKnight 11. Germaine Williams 12. Anthony Thomas 13. Warrick Dunn 14. Alley Broussard 15. Lawrence Nixon 16. Travis Minor 17. Marshall Faulk (played on some bad teams and wasn't extremely accomplished as a HS player; if you take in his entire career, he'd be top 3) 18. Justin Vincent 19. Leroy Hoard 20. Jeremy Hill 21. Roymon Malcolm 22. Johnny Hector (probably should be higher, I knos) 23. Kenny Hilliard 24. Josh Reed (remember, he was, I think, a two-time, 2,000-yard rusher at Rayne before becoming a WR at LSU) 25. Sammy Seamster, Minden 26. Bobby Ray Tell, Haynesville 27. Jacob Hester, Evangel 28. Raymond Tate, Minden 29. Norman Bradford, Jonesboro-Hodge 30. Buford Jordan, Iota 31. Jason Miller, Iota 32. Gill Fennerty, Jesuit 33. Matt Forte, Slidell 34. Eddy Lacy, Dutchtown (should be much higher, just thought of him) 35. Tommy Banks, West Monroe 36. Joe Profit, Richwood 37. Richard Murphy, Rayville 39. Charles Scott, J-Hodge 40. Eddie Fuller, Leesville 41. Vincent Fuller, Leesville 42. Michael Ford, Leesville 43. John Stephens, Springhill 44. Joe Delaney, Haughton 45. Jamie Spencer, Ouachita 46. LaBrandon Toefield, Independence 47. Brandon Jacobs, Assumption 48. Chris Ryan, Sulphur 49. PS -- Fournette to me is safely top five and, if he has a big senior year, would be top 2-3 and perhaps No. 1 if his career beyond high school pans out...

Cecil Collins seems low based on everyone saying "best player in Louisiana" history.

Terry Robeski? One of the greatest high school athletes. Played rb and QB in high school.

Didn't Ford and Hilliard break records in high school? Pretty sure Ford broke all collins records. Wouldn't that make him a better hs rb? And did y'all know cecil is originally from kentucky?

Is the criteria what they did in HS, or what they did after? Jason Miller??? Above anybody is ridiculous.

Just based on HS, need to add Charles "quick 6" McDaniel

Landon Collins, Dutchtown, should be in this list, as painful as it is to type it....

Kenny Hilliard is the all time leading rusher in Louisiana high school history and he's #23?? Wow.

Tommy Banks is too low. Had 2500 yards and 40 TDs his senior year. That's pre-Dinardo bulking him up. He was 235 and ran a 4.6. 1. Kevin Faulk 2. Kenny Hilliard 3. Cecil Collins 4. Mark Henderson 5. Jamie Spencer That's the top 5 I've seen personally in high school.

Kenny Hilliard should be at least in the top 10. He holds the Louisiana career rushing record with over 8200 yards.

Billy Cannon -- Based on hearsay. Can't make him No. 1 because it was a segregated era and the competition was watered down. He never had to face something the competition of later eras ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ I would suggest you take a look at his competition before you say it was watered down. While segregation kept white and black from competing against each other, it certainly didn't keep blacks from competing. That said, who compares with Cannon from his time from anywhere. The list is short.

Any reason Labrandon Toefield was left off your list...he's one of the first names that comes to mind.
