| America, the melting pot. Dr King's dream. I saw it, lived it. (Posted on 2/7/13 at 6:28 pm)
So a few weeks ago I attended a class where the instructor taught about 20 students. Part of the class was dealing in constitutional law, state and local laws, and political discourse. The class was as diverse as I have ever seen. There was a young black man, probably in his 20's, and his grandfather. A 30-40's something Hispanic woman from Columbia, still with a heavy immigrants accent. Several young, 20-something women. A couple of middle age-white guys. Another black woman. A young Pastor and his wife just starting a church on the southshore. The students were engaged, asking questions, interacting with each other. During breaks we all talked extensively about family and life experiences living in our Great country. There was never a more representative group for what America SHOULD be that I have seen in awhile (other than my own close group of friends/acquaintances). Our concealed permits should arrive in about 180 days.

what is the point exactly of a concealed carry class? Sounds like another way to take our money.

Who gets to decide what America SHOULD be? Why is your racial planning for a particular ethnic makeup the proper mix of diversity? Your attempt to support concealed carry permits is understood, but your attempt at cleverness fails.

Sounds like another example of ignorance on your part. Keep up the good work.

well educate me. My Ga permit consisted of giving me a card that said where carry was illegal. So what's the purpose, other than employment? I thought the board was anti-regulation. ETA: on the OB, had an example of people being told 2 different things about carrying at a parade.

Isn't a concealed carry class a voluntary expenditure? How is your money being taken away?

I could be wrong, but I don't think he was 100% serious about the diversity part.

He probably was, the cleverness I alluded to was the connection of the liberal mantra of diversity to support the conservative belief in concealed carry. His racist theories of society aside, the 2nd amendment stands on its own regardles off the racial makeup he desires to create for others.

by forcing you to pay. So, I looked it up. Instructors pay $125 for a 5 year permit. There's a cash grab right there. Instructors must have a POST or NRA certificate. You can bet those 2 groups had a hand in getting the requirement passed. And a new group (instructors) who stand to benefit. I see this as another "invisible" tax. More people with a hand in our pocket. I put it up there with boat registration & barber licenses.

Are you familiar with the concept of signing a contract? They are voluntarily entered into by both parties. No "grabbing" is a part of the deal at all.

all right, you're ok with needless government regulations. Your position apparently is if the government decides to regulate something, it's ok because if that thing is optional you can just opt out. So paying for a CCL makes total sense to you.
