Basketball atmosphere question/theory

Do any other students or fans get tired of hearing the band play the same songs before, during, and after every basketball game?
I notice at numerous other schools that have a better atmosphere, arenas play more hip-hop/"cooler" songs throughout the game on the PA system and the crowd/students really feeds off of it. Also, you have to concede the players would prefer a different genre of music while they are warming up.
As a student that sits very close to the band every game, I feel like they kind of kill the buzz for a lot of people at every stoppage, and hardly anyone students or not, does the cheers that go along to their well-known songs.
Just curious to why those dozens of band members are actually needed, or why they are occupying those prime seats that other students could easily fill.

As I looked around the arena, I felt that the median age of the fans was 54 years old. I think they rather enjoyed hearing the band rather than DJ Khalid or 2 Chainz.

All three lower sections on that end should be students. The band takes up way too much room down there and leaves a lot of seats empty. They should be moved into the upper part of the middle level. The basketball band is pretty bad anyway. they used to be awesome, but those days are long gone. The media sitting where they sit now is also ridiculous. There is no reason they should take up an entire lower section. They should sit in an upper section. Hopefully lsu will address these issues now that basketball is good and fun again.

Well, I was going to agree with you that some of the songs are dated and that they should, and currently are in the process, of updating their song list.
However, with that comment
I can see you're just another person looking for a reason to bitch. If it bothers you, either move away from the band and go sit with white board or go watch the game at home and put your own music on during the commercials.

The playing talent level in Tiger Band is the best it's ever been so that doesn't add up.

I don't think he meant their skill level
Some of them just try to be funny and make people laugh the whole time and FAIL really hard and just cause a lot of awkward silence for people in the section behind them.

They kinda have to be there, something about how far away students have to be from the visiting bench. I have no problem with them there, especially considering they used to take up the entire set of courtside tables formerly known as press row, I'd much rather see fans sit in most of those seats.

Yea. NCAA rules say the student section has to be 2 sections away from the away bench. I still want our old seats back.

The old seats plus the team being 13-1 in the SEC at one point made that season incredible.

That was my favorite season by far. The pmac sold out every game and was rockin most of the time.

There's not much to compete with 09 for the best season, though.
05 and 06 were pretty great. But I had to actually pay for those.
