Just installed a lowrance HDS over Christmas and when I took it out for the first time I wasn't too impressed with the detail of the marsh are I fish around Dularge. Anyone Have a navionics card in their unit? Thinking about buying the platinum lake maps card as that seems to be what everyone recommends but worried that it wont provide more detail for costal areas which is all I fish.

TIA

I'm going to sound like a cheap bastard here but if you have a tablet get the navionics app. It is really nice to have with depth contours and way point markers. and the best part is it's only 10 bucks

You have to get the navionics chip. It makes a world of difference. Make sure you get the right one. I can't speak for dularge, but it has all the detail I need for big lake. The app is nice to have also

I have and recommend the Navionics HotMaps Premium for the south. It shows pretty much all the inside coastal areas AND the freshwater lakes. I recommend you go somewhere like BassPro that has demo chips and the same Lowrance you have so you can look them over in your Model before buying.

If you have an iPad, you can get iNavX. It is a comprehensive app with advanced navigation and planning features. You can get Hilton Fishing charts along with Navionics lake charts for this app. Pretty cool. Worth checking out imho.
