MS Gulf Coast Community College flipped his commitment to them.

can someone explain how this works, why wouldnt he just go to a prep school instead of using 2 years of eligibility? is that not always an option?

I assume a prep school such as Hargrave requires a hefty tuition while he gets a free ride at a JUCO.

Yo, prep school is high school. If you graduate high school, you go to JUCO. Pretty simple.

Keiland Williams, for example, went to Hargrave for his SR year of HS, not his freshman year of college. This was because he turned 19 too early to play his SR year in Lafayette.

Just an example, but it highlights the difference.

They are not equivalent.

I think if they did that, they would disqualify themselves from playing high schools. It's an unfair advantage.

JUCO is free but most prep schools are free depending on the school and its notoriety. A SCHOOL like Hargrave recruits who they want, Prep is more for guys that just need an ACT score, while JUCO is for guys that are in serious trouble. Both are good options though all based on the individual.

Was Avery Johnson not a senior before he went to Hargrave?

He was, but he was a senior again at Hargrave. He enters LSU with 5 to play 4.
